Emirates has announced that from December 1, 2016, they will start operating the Airbus A380 once daily between Dubai and Doha, Qatar.
Emirates is already operating 9 daily flights between Dubai and Doha, and it is one of those who now gets upgraded to the A380.
This flight will then only be 379 kilometers each way, or about 208NM, which makes it by far the shortest route operated by an Airbus A380. The filed time for the flight is 1 hours and 20 minutes each way, but the airborne time will normally be around 40 minutes.
The Emirates A380 will be deployed as EK841, which departs Dubai at 07:45 am and arrivives in Doha at 08:05 am. The return flight, EK842 will depart Doha at 09:50 am arriving in Dubai at 12:00 pm.
The Emirates A380 that will be deployed to Doha will be set in a three-class configuration, with 429 seats in Economy Class on the main deck, 76 flat-bed seats in Business Class and 14 First Class Private Suites on the upper deck.
With a flight time this short, I will be very surprised if the bar is going to be open as all, as the time the seatbelt sign will be off will probably be around 20 minutes.
Also, the shower suites will almost guaranteed not be available for use, as there really isn’t time for anyone to take a shower on the flight (and why would you need to on a 40 minutes long fight?)
It will even be interesting to see if they have time to server all passengers a snack on the flight, although I must say I am currently impressed that all the big carriers in the Middle East serves food on the flights to all passengers between Doha and the UAE, so I guess the same will be the case on this flight.
This will be Emirates 45th route that is serviced by an Airbus A380, and I am sure we will see more new routes in the future, as Emirates currently has 85 Airbus A380s in their fleet and another 57 on order, giving them a total of 142 Airbus A380 when they are all delivered.
For those who just wants to experience the A380 this is a great opportunity, you can get economy class tickets from 355 dirhams one way, business class for 1475 dirhams and first class for 2635 dirhams.
