Emirates moves to an all Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 fleet

In line with its vision to offer a superior passenger experience and improve environmental performance through a modern and state of the art wide-body aircraft fleet, Emirates has retired the last Airbus A330 and A340 aircraft in its fleet from active service. This makes Emirates the first and only airline in the world to operate a fleet of all Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft for its passenger flights.

Emirates recently retired A6-EAK from operational service. The aircraft was the last of the 29 Airbus A330 aircraft that had been operating as part of its fleet. A6-EAK joined Emirates in 2002 and had flown for over 60,000 hours travelling close to 45 million kilometres in 14.5 years. That distance is equivalent to almost 60 return journeys between the Earth and the Moon. Emirates has also phased out A6-ERN, the last serving Airbus A340 in the fleet which had joined the airline in 2004, originally manufactured in 1999.

Up to 600 dirhams cashback with CitiBank Creditcards

Citbanks best card for earning miles with Etihad, Emirated and Qatar Airways
Citbanks best card for earning miles with Etihad, Emirates and Qatar Airways

Citibank is now offering up to 600 dirhams cashbak if you apply for any of their credit cards online.

The only requirement for getting the cashback is that you have to spend at least 5000 dirhams on the creditcard to get 300 dirhams statement credit, or 10000 dirhams to get 600 dirhams credited back to your account. This means up to 6% back on your spends for the first 10.000 dirhams you spend on the card, a better deal than most deals you can find out there right now.

The promotion seems to be valid for a selection of CitiBanks Credit Cards, my favorite that I am currently using myself is the Premier Miles, where you earn Citi miles on all your spends, which you can then credit to any airline program you choose (Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways and many others) at a 1:1 ratio, making it an excellent currency if you are not particularly loyal to just one of them.

Incredible fares from Cairo after Egypt devalued the pound

Egyptian pound to AED chart
Egyptian pound to AED chart

On the 3rd of November Egypt had to devalue the Egyptian Pound by 48% to meet IMF demands for a 13 billion dollar loan.

As you can see from the graph above, the value of one Egyptian Pound fell from 0.41463 dirhams to 0.23602 in a moment. The good news for this is that fares out of Cairo (and other Egyptian cities) are priced in Egyptian Pounds, and airlines have so far not adjusted their fares. This means there are some incredible fares to be found.
