Etihad has just taken delivery of their 10th Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, and as such they are expanding the network the Dreamliner is operating on.
On October 30 2016 they started daily fights between Abu Dahbi and Ryadh in Saudi Arabia, and 3 days later, on November 2nd 2016 they also started daily flights to Johannesburg, South Africa.
Both of those routes will be opreated by their 2-class configured aircraft (Ethad opreates both 2 and 3 class configured Boeing 787-9s), which are featuring 28 business class studios and 271 economy class seats.
I have not been able to sample the Etihad 787 myself yet, but with the route network expanding I am sure I will be able to do so soon. The business class studios looks amazing, and the 787 is one of my favorite aircraft to fly on.
This puts the number of cities served by the 787 to 9, the other cities so far is Washington DC, Zurich, Dusseldorf, Singapore, Perth, Brisbane and Shanghai. In addition Tokyo will be added to the network from December 1, 2016.
