Etihad has announced that they will add 4 addition weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and Male, the capital of Maldives, between July 1 and September 17 2017.
This will be in addition to the daily flight they are already operating to this island paradise, making it 11 weekly flight between the two capitals.
The new route will be operated by a 2 class Airbus A320, featuring 16 business class and 120 economy class seats, which is the same as they are using on their daily flight already, although earlier we could sometimes see wide-bodies operating on the route, but I guess there is enough demand over the summer months to justify those 4 extra weekly flight.
The new flights will leave Abu Dhabi on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 00:55 local time, arriving in the Maldives at 06.20, and returning the same evening at 19:40, arriving in Abu Dhabi at 23:00.
Those new timings are perfect for a quick get-away, by having a 2 nights stay you can basically get 3 full days out of the trip, so I think those flights are going to become very popular, at least for me personally this will be very tempting to do over a long weekend this summer.
