Emirates has begun taking delivery of its new generation Airbus A380 and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The first of the new generation A380s was delivered this month as Emirates’ 85th A380. The first of its new generation Boeing 777-300ER aircraft is expected to be delivered later this month and will feature upgraded Business Class seats amongst other features.
These new aircraft reflect Emirates’ continued investment and commitment to flying a modern, environmentally –friendly fleet and providing its customers with a superior level of comfort and safety.
In line with its vision to offer a superior passenger experience and improve environmental performance through a modern and state of the art wide-body aircraft fleet, Emirates has retired the last Airbus A330 and A340 aircraft in its fleet from active service. This makes Emirates the first and only airline in the world to operate a fleet of all Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft for its passenger flights.
Emirates recently retired A6-EAK from operational service. The aircraft was the last of the 29 Airbus A330 aircraft that had been operating as part of its fleet. A6-EAK joined Emirates in 2002 and had flown for over 60,000 hours travelling close to 45 million kilometres in 14.5 years. That distance is equivalent to almost 60 return journeys between the Earth and the Moon. Emirates has also phased out A6-ERN, the last serving Airbus A340 in the fleet which had joined the airline in 2004, originally manufactured in 1999.
As you can see from the graph above, the value of one Egyptian Pound fell from 0.41463 dirhams to 0.23602 in a moment. The good news for this is that fares out of Cairo (and other Egyptian cities) are priced in Egyptian Pounds, and airlines have so far not adjusted their fares. This means there are some incredible fares to be found.
The Etihad Airways ramadan sale has just started, offering some really good deals for traveling from June and until the end of October.
There are certain restrictions on the travel, minimum stay is 2 days and maximum stay is 3 months. Also, some destinations have their own limited restrictions, so read carefully before trying to book.
Anyhow, there are some really good deals available in economy class, a couple of my favorites are Manila return from 1575 dirhams and Bangkok from 1735. Also, Mumbai is available to fly for 859 dirhams return, which would be a great way to try Etihads A380!
Etihad has just released their new promotional video with Nicole Kidman in 360° VR. It is a 6 minutes video in full 360 (caution, downloads about 500 MB, do not do that on a small data plan), and shows the features of the Etihad Airbus A380.
